Gibbous Moon Table

Inspired by a powerful natural force and conceived as the centre of a living room arrangement, the Gibbous Moon Table is made from slabs of natural quartzite. The generous tabletop takes the form of a waxing and waning gibbous moon, combining a semi-circle and semi-ellipse. Bi-axial vertical planes support the surface, subtly describing the moon’s three-dimensional form.

The design engages the tension between the moon’s familiar flat image and its known spherical presence. It invites a shift in perception, from graphic symbol to volumetric form. Cool and smooth to the touch, the quartzite surface reflects soft light, recalling the moon in a clear evening sky, and brings people together around a calm, sculptural centre.
