Kaleidoscope House
Kaleidoscope House is organized as a sequence of interconnected spaces that balance openness with careful definition. The main entry leads to a study or sitting room, flowing through to a generous dining area, living room, and open kitchen. Built-in planters introduce greenery while subtly delineating zones, allowing the ground floor to remain visually continuous. Supporting functions, including the garage, mudroom, and powder room, are compactly arranged to maintain this sense of openness.
Above, the second storey is configured as a split level. A bedroom, bathroom, and office occupy the lower portion, while the upper level contains the principal bedroom with ensuite, a laundry room, and an additional bedroom with its own bath. This arrangement creates variation in volume and perspective while maintaining cohesion throughout.
The lower level extends the living environment with a range of flexible spaces. A media room connects directly to the garden through a planted light well, drawing daylight deep into the interior. An art studio, guest room, sauna, and mechanical space are integrated with equal care, supporting both daily use and long-term adaptability.
Designed as a high-performance home, the building envelope is carefully insulated and sealed, supported by an efficient heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system. Electric vehicle charging and a user-friendly smart home system further extend its functionality, creating a residence that is both responsive and enduring.
